The received reading treats this as a record about technology, which is the reading that has aged worst. It is a record about being managed — by systems, by employers, by the polite voice that tells you where to stand. The guitars are incidental to that and the sequencing is not: every track hands off to the next at the moment its complaint becomes unanswerable. Predictable as a verdict. Still correct as one.
