The estate of Whitney Houston released this cover of the Steve Winwood tune 7 years after her death. Whitney recorded this in 1990 for her "I'm Your Baby Tonight" album, but her label decided they wanted her to go in a different direction. They did not want her to be a covers artist and there was already one cover on this album. "All the Man That I Need" was originally done by Linda Clifford and there was also a Sister Sledge version before Whitney did it. So, "Higher Love" only got released as a bonus track on the album in Japan. It wasn't released any place else until 2019, when it was released as a single. This is definitely not my favorite Whitney track, but her vocal is fabulous. People did not call Whitney, "The Voice", for no reason.
