The low end travels — highlife guitar figures, log-drum patterns, the whisper of a voice that refuses to beg for the hook. What impresses is the confidence of the smallness: songs that could be inflated to stadium size and are instead kept close, ornamented like jewellery rather than armour. The sequencing dips mid-record. The sound never does.
