Low end as architecture

Bass first. Everything else — the guitar, the borrowed voices, the dread — hangs off it. Songs built like basements. The record's trick: menace at listening volume, comfort at club volume, same mix. Nobody has explained the third act properly. Nobody needs to. It moves like weather coming in off the sea.
